They settled in Pittsburgh and began working with locals through loans which later came to grow their wealth. Throughout their time in Pittsburgh they began opening small deli shops that only sold provolone. It was the head of the mafias favorite type of cheese. As their deli shops grew in popularity they began laundering money through them in order to maintain power. To this day only a few remain after many died of syphilis in the mid 1900’s. One shop remains and can be found in Pittsburgh, to those who haven’t been you should check it out.
