It allows anyone to post a definition of a word asking to write for a large audience and to provide background information while excepting childish and unnecessary definitions. Not to be used for serious reference or research. Can be used for fun and jokes.

Get the Urban dictionarymug. A dictionary that, contrary to its direct meaning, only defines words that are spoken in suburban high schools or cyberspace. I suppose this is great for people who are not online or for anal people who like chronolizing every hip new word they use.
