The idea is that since you’re swiping left or right, you get on a roll and are either matching with a lot of people or you are not. When you’re matching with a lot, you’ve hit the Swipe Hype.

This leads him to coin a new term: "hype fatigue."
Attempt at a formal definition: when one's hopes and expectations in a game, show, or etc. transitions from a fanatic following into abject indifference when the final product is finally released.
Casual definition: getting so hyped that you eventually tucker yourself out and can no longer hype
