A prostitute.

Began in the Civil War when General Joeseph "Fighting Joe" Hooker was concerned about the number of STDs amoung his soldiers. He Red District'd all of the prostitutes and gave them annual checks for signs of STDs. And everyone knows how generals check over their men to make sure all uniforms and such are in tip-top shape, so the Red District Prostitutes became known as "Hooker's Army", later dropping the "Army" and becoming "hooker."

Person: Yo, John, you see that hooker last night?
John: You mean Joe Hooker?
Person: Uh... no, the prostitutes. Didja sleep with her?
