This includes memorizing stats, obsessing over team rosters, passionately debating players, and treating sports events like sacred rituals. Often exhibits behaviors strikingly similar to stereotypical anime fans—just with fantasy leagues and highlight reels instead of waifus and fan subs.

Origin:
A spin-off of the term weeb (short for weeaboo), which originally referred to non-Japanese fans obsessed with Japanese culture. Sports weeb broadens the idea to include similar levels of obsessive fandom applied to sports.
