One of the many slang terms used in the mail order world of NY/NJ, to "check line" simply means to "make payment."

DEMOn LINE means demo line, for some providers' dealer, they get a demo line, but it's really a DEMON, because you don't pay for a single buck and you get unlimited everything. I really mean it!!!

So that's why it's the DEMOn LINE.
