Get the Oreomug. Using painters tape or other barrier material to cover non painted surfaces, such as trim or window frames, prior to painting.
You can see how thick it was applied when they get a little on an electric plate or switch cover (because why remove those before painting? And why oreo the surface either? And painters tape costs money so screw that!)
