Honky Tonkin'

It's what you do on weekends in Nashville for the classic & ultimate Nashville experience. Get rowdy in every country bar on Broadway, pick your favorite and close it down. Some choices consist of Robert's-for the Brazilbilly sound, Tootsie's-classic & modern country with a touch of southern rock, The Stage & Legends.

I've got some friends in from Chicago, I was thinking of taking them honky tonkin'.

Honky Tonkin'

Verb a.k.a. "Tonkin'": To get shit-house drunk on cheap beer (usually PBR or Busch Light) and head into the local bars looking for trouble. A good night of Tonkin' generally includes, but is not limited to, (1) discharging a firearm at the moon, (2) having to leave somewhere before the police arrive, and (3) waking up the next morning next to a particularly unattractive woman. Although the word's etymology is southern, Honky Tonkin' has been observed as far north as Grand Marais, MN.

Were goin' Honky Tonkin' tonight boys! Fathers, lock up your daughters. Farmers, lock up your sheep.

What Midwesterners do every Friday and Saturday night. It entails driving around the courthouse square about 800 times in the pickup truck, drinking beer and leaning out the window "hoopin and hollerin".

After we git off work, we goin to Wal Mart! We gone stock up on Pabst Blue Ribbon. Bubba's gone git some bait and some buck shot for tomarra mornin and Eunice is gone git her fatass toenails and hair done up real nice. Then they gone meet at the food stand and share some curly cheese fries and go back to the trailer. Then they gone git dressed and git in the pickup and go off a honky tonkin!
