Elukami (sometimes called Elukami Indigo Fingers) is the name of the body art in Black American/Afro-American/Soulaani culture. It means indigo dye and has etymology in several African languages. It is the extension of Indigo Fingers which is a part of the Afro-American ethno-spirituality Hoodoo. Unlike henna which is done for beautification in many cultures, Elukami is specifically for the purpose of honoring, remembering, and connecting with ancestors in Black American culture. Elukami is distinguished by dark blue stained fingers and various symbols from Afro American culture like the Underground Railroad quilt code symbols and regional cultural heritage flags.
