photoshopping reality

When the press, public relations firms, government officials and political campaigns distort reality, twist the facts, apply filters like those used in PhotoShop to changes images, that is photoshopping reality. Closely associated with spin, perception management, marketing and propaganda.

When Secretary of State Colin Powell showed photographs to the UN proving the existence of chemical warfare plants, he was photoshopping reality. Also, President George W. Bush's infamous comment to FEMA chief Michael D. Brown while the latter was botching the federal response to Hurricane Katrina: "Brownie, you're doing a heck of a job."

Steve had such a jaded reality he thought that telling his girlfriend to lose weight was a motivational tool. Instead, she left him for verbal abuse.

Charity Replies

When on an online dating site or app, Charity Replies are when you start chatting with someone who otherwise does not find you attractive, but for some reason continues to reply feeling some sort of obligation. This usually results in ghosting or the friendly fade.

I was talking to this guy on POF. He obviously had no interest in me and was just giving me charity replies cause they were always just one word answers and he wouldn't reply for hours at a time. I can see when he's been online! Then one day he just kind of vanished...

hyper replication

someone pays a guy to design a killer tattoo, then they take it to a tattooer to be replicated. The tattooer posts the pic of the tattoo on social media. Someone then draws that tattoo (but smaller) then takes it to the same tattooer to be done again only smaller and upside down...now it has been 'hyper replicated'.

My new tattoo is a {hyper replication} of a tattoo that I saw on social media.
