Save cycling can also be used to manipulate RNG in order to leave the player with a more favorable item pickup or enemy encounter, and is often done multiple times in a row.
Most importantly, this is not an intended use of the game-save feature and normally requires an exploit such as unlinking auto-save data (often a cloud save), so it cannot be automatically overwritten and requires manual intervention.
