Hipster

People who apparently don't know that google exists.
Person 1: "I like this one band..... but, you know, you've probably never heard of them."

Person 2: "Don't be such a hipster, man. Gimme five seconds and a phone and I'll have heard of them."

Hipster

Hipsters come from affluent backgrounds, they form a part of the aristocracy: the bigotted, highbrow behavior toward others is tinged with Victorian-era, teleological world views, which is naturally a display of their position in the power relations within society. This statement is emblematic of this subculture in that in the process of attempting to distance themselves from their hereditary, privileged class group, nevertheless continue to exhibit a contemporary version of the same prejudice and exceptionalism which further buttress their position in the social power schema. This is why neighborhoods are often gentrified to accommodate to appeal for the hipster demographic.
Don't drive your '86 chevy over there, the hipsters will tell you how you should ride a bike or drive a hybrid instead.

hipster

The enemy of the emo. The two groups generally hate each other. Emo people will generally try to drown hipsters in the mainstream, while hipsters will put the emos in a circle room so they have no corner to cry in.
"Ugh. It's a hipster." Says the emo girl.

"I listened to that band before I was cool." Replies the hipster girl.

Hipster

Originally intended to be a word to describe individuals with "alternative" (as opposed to "mainstream") tastes in art and culture (and they explicitly suggest it by the way they dress etc) . However the modern adaptation of it is used very liberally. Two individuals can be each other's "hipster" if they have opposite tastes in art and culture. It is also used as a retaliation against less known art which have fan following from art critics by some people who can't relate to it.
I read a review of an album on some well known website or magazine. It has great reception. I listen to that album for myself but I don't really enjoy it. But I feel paranoid that so many other love it. Thus I declare these people as "hipsters" so I can feel that I have superior taste in music.

Hipster

People who listen to bands no one has ever heard of and can be rather cocky. They never call themselves hipsters and deem many things as "mainstream"

Many teenage girls of these days attempt to pose as hipsters through their Instagram and twitter post, but do not succeed.
Girl 1: I'm going to post a picture of my converse with a vintage filter

Girl 2: OMG so hipster! 1!1!2!222!!

Girl 3: I'm wearing an oversized sweater and combat boots, how hipster am I?
