"LOL" is an acronym, formerly:
LOL := "laughing out loud"
Now, LOL is redefined:
LOL := "laughter ostensibly likely"
This indicates that, if the LOL'er were to actually respond emotionally irl, he/she is ostensibly likely to actually laugh.
