y'all

1) A contraction of “you all”.

2) A word usually either said by black people or a lone white guy in the company of blacks.

3) A word with a lot of bizarre definitions on Urban Dictionary.

Aside from Florida, I’ve never stepped foot in the south in my life. However, I hear and say the word “y'all” every day at work.

et y'all

Et Y'all - the Texan, or friendlier, less Latin, aka more widely understood version of "et al". It proclaims, "Yes, I'm familiar with writing etiquette, but I'm also from Texas, and we say Y'all" This greeting is the perfect salutation to use when writing or addressing a group of people. Instead of typing out every name in that first line of an email, letter, memo, or other correspondence, one can simply name the first one, and follow it with the friendly "et y'all".

I 'm writing to let all y'all know that I can't make it to the family reunion this year.

y'all good?

An absolutely savage southern US slang sarcasm of a more typical phrase from American English in general being "Are all of (or both of) you okay?" Generally when the southern slang version is used it is stipulating that whoever is being asked is not, in fact, okay.

y'all line

The geographic point in a border state of the south past which the majority of residents speak in a traditonal southern accent.

Jane thinks anything above Tampa is The South, but I'd say Florida's y'all line is around Orlando.
