Close quarters syndrome is when you develop feelings for a co-worker that you probably would've never liked if you didn't spend so much time with them. Be careful, it's easy to snagged by a narcissist with close quarters syndrome.

double quarter sister

When a person is a quarter sister both on the fathers side and also on the mothers side. The result of a wife swap.
1. Adam and Bertha has Edit. Bertha and John has Anna. John and Karen has Evelyn.
Edit and Anna are half sisters on Edits mothers side.
Anna and Evelyn are half sisters.
Edit and Evelyn are quarter sisters on Edits mothers side.
2. If also Adam and Karen has Maria.
Edit and Maria are half sisters on Edits fathers side.
Maria and Evelyn are half sisters.
Edit and Evelyn are also quarter sisters on Edits fathers side.
Hence Edit and Evelyn are double quarter sisters.

Case quarter

In the 1980’s in Essex county, Nj, I worked in a restaurant where the wait staff was predominantly white and the dish room was predominantly black. (I maintain I was the last white American man to work as a dishwasher!) whenever any of my coworkers wanted a quarter for change they would always ask for a “case quarter.” No explanation was asked for, none given. But it was fairly widespread urban slang at least in the mid eighties in northern nj.

Just now, I’m watching an old film on tcm, “flying down to Rio”, and one of the principle characters asked another for a “case quarter” again looking for a 25 cent piece for smaller change. No further context given.

Brings back wonderful memories, as well as a few questions!

I need a case quarter.
