Swag

From what I can see swag breaks down like this: back in the 1600s swag meant goods gained by theft, or booty. I saw the word rise again in a similar form in the late 80s when people would get cool little free gifts or promo stuff for attending conferences. After this swag split into to categories. Free promo items, pins, and the second category was more things gotten for free for attending things. at Wow cons there was often rare and incredible swag given only to those in attendance, so gamers began to associate the word swag with rare or really awesome freebies. From there swag moved on to a replacement for anything cool or awesome. The whole swag meaning secretly we are gay thing, well I'm pretty sure that's just gay dudes wishing all the hot pirate dudes in movies were secretly gay. yes, pirates used the word swag as well as booty, I can understand the confusion what with booty being used but that's another misunderstood word for another time
Aaar matey we be gettin some swag worth havin from the pillaging of this unguarded fort.

I got this awesome rare one of a kind ride in my swag bag at the last con I was at.

My boss says we have to wear this swag promo-ing our restaurant when were at work.

SWAG

It has been traced back to 1640, where it's used to refer to "hansom swag fellowes." It refers to stylish confidence. It is a derivative of the word "swagger", (rather than the "swag" that is a reference to free loot, and this use is NOT an acronym for any words.) It refers to a confident attitude or manner.

Swag

A word to use to express yourself; also used to say if something is fresh(cool, in style). Previously, the word was an acronym for Secretly We Are Gay(apparently), but it's now changed by the latest generation.

Note:Words like this that probably aren't dictionary official words can really and technically defined how you would like it. NOT EVERYONE WHO SAYS SWAG IS A PERSON WHO WANTS TO SHOW OFF. Fact: I don't wear hats all the time an when I do I actually wear them correctly. I say swag because I like the way it rolls off the tongue. If someone wants to call you names because you say swag, ignore them because haters are your friends in a sense because the most like hate you for doing something right when they do it wrong. You are also exercising your freedom of speech and if you like something stay with it. Period.
Dude 1: Dude, that's swag!
Dude 2: I know, bro. That's fresh.
Dude 3: Thanks, guys.
Dude 4: Swag is for noobs who can't get a life. Losers.
Dude 1: Says the person who defined himself. Keep hating, it won't affect me. I'm doing something right, aren't I?
Dudes 2 and 3: Oooo, kill 'em!!
Dude 4 walks away from this dis.
