1. Throwing shades: Saying something disrespectful to someone.

2. catching shades: when it's obvious you're trying to get with someone (smitten)

Terms artists use to represent the illusion of making a 2D drawing appear to have depth.

"When I drew this sphere, the light source was at the top right corner so I shaded the opposite end because the light wasn't hitting it, and highlighted the end closest to the light source because the light was hitting it dead on." Shade

Shade- When somebody is trying to shit talk to you, but is passive aggressive and dances around the subject while making smart-ass comments which are sometimes accompanied by facial expressions. Often referred to as 'throwing shade.'

"Hey Joe, how do you like your new coworkers?"
"Oh I love them, they're a great group of people.(EYE ROLL)"
"Damn Joe, throw that shade!"
