Similar to a paywall, a common mechanic in modern games, especially mobile, where a feature of the game (or the game itself) has a limited number of uses or play time which only resets when the next period begins (usually a daily refresh) unless the player opts to pay extra.
God damn I hate the time gate in this mobile app. I can only play at best an hour a day unless I pay extra.

Get the Time Pitmug. Taos time refers to the time zone of Taos, New Mexico. To convert to Taos time, start with Mountain Standard Time and add 15-30 minutes. If a person is scheduled to arrive at your house, add 8 - 48 hours.

My friend agreed to meet with me at 4:15 for running but arrived 20 minutes later. He said he arrive on Colombian time.
