Along with other terms such as thank you, ty, thnx, thanx, and tyvm (The latter 3 being used frequently in chatspeak), a way of showing gratitude for a gift or a favor/service done for you. The shortened form of "Thank you" used in informal situations, such as when talking with close friends or classmates.

"Hey John, I picked you up a couple of sandwiches and a bottle of Coke for later." "Thanks, Tom."

Canadian Thanksgiving

Canadian Thanksgiving is having a regular thanksgiving like feast at a non-thanksgiving time of the year.

Eating turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, etc. in March, or August: I know it is June, but turkey is delicious, lets have a Canadian Thanksgiving.
Did you know that in Canada they celebrate Canadian Thanksgiving in October?

Something said after denying, owning, or shutting someone down. The phrase comes from playing games after the game is over, the winner says "Thanks for playing" to the loser.
