When one person in a group or family holds on to a symbolic memory or experience with more importance than the other people involved in that experience or memory. For this person, a nostalgic benchmark holds a reference point for a significant event that is no longer significant to others who were involved in this experience or event.
A mother and son always go to a certain restaurant to eat chicken wings. As the son grows older, he no longer likes chicken wings and has no desire to eat them, but the mother insists on going back to the restaurant, which serves the chicken wings that both of them once loved. For the mother this is a nostalgic event, but for the son, who no longer eats chicken wings or likes them, this experience of going to the restaurant to eat chicken wings no longer holds any importance or nostalgia. So, for the mother this is a nostalgic benchmark, but for the son, it has no importance, or nostalgia, it has no benchmark anymore.

Get the Nostalgic Piemug. This is a specific definition I have created for something I have been studying for 2 years. I'm 14 years old and tell me what you think about this definition of this "disorder" I have made a name for. Thank you. -Sefinternal
Definition - A repeating factor of thoughts or memories of a specific action, occurrence or a result in a matter at hand that was either bad or good, but the good and bad thoughts result in a manner that feels as a beautiful moment no matter what but also gives the effect of being depressed. Many things can trigger this feeling; such as music or people you know. An odd occurrence of NRDD can also happen when you have the cold because of the last time you've had the cold. The biggest effect I have found is that music that oddly resembles nothing compared to older thoughts or occurrences of you hearing it before can also effect you deeply for reasons that are unknown, which I'm currently still studying upon.

Get the nostalgic hatemug. "Nostalgic" is the best adjective to describe the era where the indigenous May-May tribe had once predicted that the apocalypse would happen on Tuesday, April 2nd 1991, which was going to coincide with the fasting month of Ramadan. At a later time, it eventually turned out that this D-day is just the end of the calendar of May-May tribe which had spanned for 5590 years, which is akin to the end of the Showa era and the beginning of the Heisei era that occured in Japan back in 1989 — as "apocalypse" is a concept coined by the modern civilization that is completely unknown to the May-May tribe.
It's nostalgic to remember that when I was a kid in the 1980's, I worried that the apocalypse would happen on Tuesday, April 2nd 1991, the day I was going to start high school in Japan — like what the indigenous May-May tribe had predicted. Guess, it now turns out that this D-day is just the end of the calendar of May-May tribe which had spanned for 5590 years, which is akin to the end of the Showa era and the beginning of the Heisei era that occured in Japan back in 1989.
