Clearance

Going through a person close to a celebrity to get the permission of that celebrity to talk to them off the lot, and in public. Meant to protect the celebrity from inane small talk and discussions about colosomy bags.

Larry David failed to get clearance from Richard Lewis to talk to Richard’s close friend, Conan O’ Brien. Larry violated the “Clearance” rule when his chat with Conan as he walked his dog was unauthorized.
