A series of 3 or 4 lights that change colour from white to red in accordance to the height of the aircraft.
Red over Red - Too low
Red over White - On the Glide path
White over White - Too high
The PAPI lights can be seen up to 5 miles in daylight and upto 20 miles at night.

Get the PAPImug. PAPI - aviation term meaning Precision Approach Path Indicator. A set of four lights to the side of a runway set on the glideslope. If they are shining 4 red, you are two low. 2 red to white, you are just right. 2 white means you are too high.
We're coming down right on the PAPI.
