1. (n) Spanish and portuguese slang for 'bitch' and 'hooker'. A woman that has sex with lots of men indiscriminatedly can be defined as a puta. Even if she doesn't get paid for it. Regardless of its true meaning, the word 'puta' can be used randomly to offend a woman, such as its english counterpart 'bitch'. Note that 'puto' (masculine) has a different meaning, related to homosexuality or cowardice.
