Romrel is a portmanteau of romantic relationship. The word is used to refer to a spouse or spousehood. Also known as significant others or to the relationship between the significant others. A relationship in which the people regard themselves as being in some way more intimate, romantic, or sexual than just friends. It often involves things like a written or unwritten contract, shared lodging, or expectation of monogamy. This form of relationship is vague and subjective, but people usually know it when they see it. A common manifestation is marriage or two people who regard themselves as "boyfriend, girlfriend."
