A slang word used by people when they wish to alert others to the fact that they are:
•Performing actions that they believe makes them more stylish or popular.
•Wearing clothes or accessories that they believe make them aesthetically stylish.
•Acquiring a new piece of technology that they believe makes them more stylish or popular.
This term however, has a bad reputation for being said by generally annoying or unlikable people at completely inappropriate times, where it would disrupt other people.
This can also be said ironically by other people as long as they reassure the audience of the joke that they are just joking and that they do not say this word frequently.

Swag has been changed to represent something or someone that is very current with today's headlines and maybe even seen as thuggish. However, the actual definition(s) is(are):
1. a curtain or piece of fabric fastened so as to hang in a drooping curve.
2. informal; money or goods taken by a thief or burglar.
verb
1. arrange in or decorate with a swag or swags of fabric.
These are the definitions according to Google, so forgive me if they are incorrect and/or inaccurate.

Something untalented people made up to make themselves feel better. Of course it caught on and now everyone wants to be swag.
