An ideal humorous retort that wasn’t said in the moment but has been devised after departure(up or down the stairs).

Have you had COVID?

No, but I was really sick before we knew about COVID.

Stairway humor(meaning after one has left the conversation and is rethinking a more humorous response): Hipster me- I think I had it when it no one knew about it. It was obscure then.

Clearly, anyone knows what this feels like and can produce an example. P.S. I heard about this once 2-4 years ago.

Chuck has a very good SEX of humor; he loves to turn ordinary situations into provocative ones.

Otherwise, If there's no underlying sexual content to the situation, it's just his ordinary SENSE of humor coming out.
