bones and tones

An acronym for trombones and baritones. Often used to refer to the low brass section for when things need fixed or sectional. Also slang for refering to others in their section. Usually used when the trombones and baritones are so much alike you can't tell who really goes in which section so they just combine them together to make it easier for everyone.
"Bones and tones, run that last measure and don't mess up that hight A"

Person A:"What section are you in?"
Person B:"The bones and tones of course."

throw one's bones somewhere

1. To go to some place mainly for entertainment or sightseeing.

note: this phrase always has a meaning of a distance, so it can't be used for a type of a place, unless it's a specific place (Can't say "Let's throw our bones to the cinema", but can say "Let's throw our bones to Jam Hall")

2. Take a seat, especially when there is a choice what table/lobby sofa/seats in the airport/place for a picnic etc to occupy.
Throw one's bones somewhere:

If there are no better ideas let's throw our bones to the Dungeon Disco.

-- What?
-- I dunno... It's so crowded there...
-- Then let's throw our bones right here. No noise, no traffic - great table!

By God’s Bones

Phrase - one of the original curses listed in the Bible. Saying this phrase was viewed as an actual curse: when arguing with another, they would invoke an insult, followed by the phrase “by gods bones” to literally invoke the almighty into following through on your words. As people had more of a solid belief in god back in the day, this was a very, very, VERY serious thing to say to someone, and as such, is one of the original “curse words” listed in the Bible. Saying “by gods bones” was a good way to end up dead, or imprisoned for a long time.
“I’ll make you pick up your teeth with two broken arms, by God’s bones!”
“By God’s bones you better not be lying to me little one.”
“May the lord striketh me down if I lie, by God’s bones I tell you the truth!”
