A member of the Youth International Party. This party began as an antiwar movement during the Vietnam era, but then developed a sort of a libertarian socialist outlook, becoming focused during the 1970s and into the early 1980's on legalization of marijuana and other drugs and protesting against capitalism and corporations.

Ypipo

A word used predominantly by African Americans to refer to white people in amused exasperation. In the same way women who have been annoyed by men might exclaim, "Men!" or men annoyed by women might exclaim, "Women!" Black people annoyed by white people but not wanting to offend might comment on social media, "Ypipo!"

An almost archaic statement used by "Yippies" (The predecessors of Hippies, who were ultra-political and counter culture revolutionaries) to explain excitement, approval or irony.

Jerry Rubin: "Far out! I just scored a huge lid of grass, I'm gonna light a Doobie and use it to ignite this gasoline soaked American Flag! Yippie Dippie Do!"
