Generally hated by the rest of Canada (especially the West!) "Centre of the universe" is a mocking reference to the attitude of self-importance Toronto is claimed to have.

Grand scheme of the universe 

The ultimate way of life, events, and all parts of this world and this universe. Many define part of this with their religion, or any religion can use this as just a metaphysical way to describe fate and sequence of events.

Usually used to describe something very small and unimportant and how it relates to "the big picture".

Dude to dude: "I mean really, in the grand scheme of the universe, how much is breaking up with Shannon?"

Best Page in the Universe is a website created by a writter called Maddox. This site features articles ranting about his hate towards children, old people, women, and the Titanic. He is an amazing writer who will bash the daylights out of anyone or anything he likes. There is a society called Mothers Against Maddox. This group tries to get Maddox of the internet, and want to shut down his site. His articles feature loads of foul language, and adult material.

Alternate Universe 

A parallel existence in which events may unfold differently and particles are antimatter and so forth. A subset of the multiverse.

Amply illustrated in this Youtube conversation.

Dude 1: I shudder to think that there may be an alternate universe out there in which McCain-Palin won the elections! Wait, she could be PRESIDENT in this one!

Dude 2: There is such a universe. In that universe Gore and Lieberman won. Gore was killed by an Iraqi-Iranian-Pakistani Terrorist while he was looking out a window in the Twin Towers. President Lieberman made a tearful speech declaring Gore a martyr. He the declared World War on Islam and bombed Egypt.

The US is also bankrupt in that reality.

ekpyrotic universe 

The ekpyrotic universe, or ekpyrotic scenario, is a cosmological model of the origin and shape of the universe. The ekpyrotic model of the universe is an alternative to the standard cosmic inflation model for the very early universe and is a precursor to, and part of, some cyclic models of the universe.
The ekpyrotic model came out of work by Neil Turok and Paul Steinhardt and maintains that the universe did not start in a singularity, but came about from the collision of two branes. This collision avoids the primordial singularity and superluminal expansion of spacetime while preserving nearly scale-free density fluctuations and other features of the observed universe. The ekpyrotic model is cyclic, though collisions between branes are rare on the time scale of the expansion of the universe to a nearly featureless flat expanse. Observations that may distinguish between the ekpyrotic and inflationary models include polarization of the cosmic microwave background radiation and frequency distribution of the gravitational wave spectrum.

My friends are such nerds, they got into a huge drunk argument about whether the we existed in an ekpyrotic universe or an exponential expansion universe.
