underlying stock

(FINANCE) a stock whose price movements determine the value of a financial derivative. For example, when a hedge fund manager writes a call option for Citigroup (NYSE:C) at 4.25/share, C is the underlying stock.

"Underlying" can be used to refer to other things besides stocks; for example, commodities, currencies, or bonds.

A put option rises when the spot price of its underlying stock declines.

He stole from me after I tried to help him, so I undermined him by making sure every business in the area knows that he is a shoplifter.

UNDERINVITED

To be told there is an event or occasion occurring and that you will be contacted,but as it approaches you never hear more about it.

I was supposed to go to Will's birthday party but never got a evite or a call I guess I wasn't uninvited but for sure was underinvited.

underminded

A person with less knowledge who attempts to appear more intelligent by providing a solution that has already been established with the intent to take credit.

Jacob flagged down his supervisor to discuss a problem and solution that he had overheard his coworker Cece describing. He regurgitated the situation which left Cece feeling completely underminded as she knew all the intricacies and Jacob had clearly taken credit for her solution.
