A snippet of a cheerleading chant first heard by most in the song, "Hollaback Girl" by Gwen Stefani. It is actually part of an entire cheer that I first heard in the mid 80's. Usually heard from a cheerleading troupe during a game at a school whose school colors contain the color gold or yellow. (Players wear gold or yellow pants or jerseys.) This was considered quite a racy cheer at my high school in 1986... I only heard it used once. Here is the entire cheer ---

(Shouting--)
Go bananas, B-A-N-A-N-A-S
Go bananas, B-A-N-A-N-A-S
You lean to the left,
and you lean to the right,
you peel your banana,
and UNNGGHHH you take a BITE!!!

(by the way, Gwen is a former cheerleader herself, and I'm sure it would be a safe bet that the school she cheered at has yellow as one of its school colors.... )

G.A.N.G.S.T.A

An acronym created by Micahel Hannah in the Twin Cities, MN to identify people who follow the urban culture who are about their business in life. It takes away from the original thug meaning and makes it more positive. The letters stand for Gaining Attrubutes Needed (to) Get Somewhere Through Achievement, spelling out the word gangsta. Common people following the postive urban movement are also dubbed as real hip hop heads, who show interest in music by such rappers as Lupe Fiasco, Talib Kweli, Mos Def and other more thought provoking rappers, aside from some tasteless gibberish commerical rap. The acronym was made into a song that features on the underground hip hop album "New Agenda Musik" by local Twin Cities, MN hip hop artists Young Son (Michael Hannah) and A.R.O (Tony Ohnstad, featuring local Neo-Soul singer Kovan.

That speech you did about ending discrimination in our community was raw! You really keeping it G.A.N.G.S.T.A!

Just to catch attention and piss us all off she annyoingly spells bananas. the song is pointless and has no real meaning to it. thank you gwen stefani fro bringing this song into the world. it might be annoying as hell but it sure is catchy.
