Shopping Cart Theory

An everyday test over morality and responsibilty over the simple task of returning a shopping cart after unloading groceries. You aren't forced by the law to return it, you won't get any punishment for not returning it, you won't get rewarded for doing it, it doesn't take a lot of time or effort to return it, but it is the right thing to do and it organises the parking lot and makes it easier for the next people to use the shopping cart. Most people should be able to return it unless they are in a hurry. Ultimately, it's a test to see if people can do the right thing without being forced or rewarded.
"You're just gonna leave that cart there?"
"Yeah."
"You failed the shopping cart theory."
"What the hell are you talking about?"

shopping cart abandonment

"Shopping Cart Abandonment" is the digital equivalent of window shopping, where you embark on a virtual treasure hunt, gleefully tossing everything you desire into your online cart. It's a thrilling fantasy shopping spree, where you play billionaire for a fleeting moment in time, minus the actual spending part. After hours of careful selection, and with your cart brimming with dreams, you abruptly close the tab, leaving your virtual haul behind. It's the art of filling your cart with hope, only to ghost it with the finesse of a master abandoner, making it the ultimate no-cost escapade in the world of e-commerce consumerism.
"In the grand Shopping Cart Abandonment Olympics, Jessica scored a gold medal by expertly loading her cart with luxury goods worth a small fortune, only to abandon it with a click, proving she's a world champion in the high-stakes sport of 'look but don't buy'."

shopping-cart sidle

Refers to da "lift 'n' shift" grocery-wagon maneuver dat you utilize when making room for another customer if da aisle is too narrow/crowded to simply roll da trolley forwards/backwards outta da way; da action involves forcibly lifting up on da cart's handle to raise da fixed-forward rear wheels off da floor, and then muscling da cart sideways on its front swivel-wheels.
Anyone of average strength/agility can master da shopping-cart sidle fairly easily; da problem is if da cart is heavily loaded down wif merchandise, in which case trying to heave da back of da cart upwards can be much more difficult.

shopping-cart hockey

Refers to da steps-saving groceries-trolley-returning practice whereby ya halt a few yards from da cart-corral in da parking lot and then give da cart a speedy push so dat it (hopefully!) rolls da rest of da way into da corral, thus scoring a "goal".
I always love seeing my "aimed and released" shopping-cart roll smoothly between da walls of da corral; shopping-cart hockey is even more satisfying, though, if said cart also clatters itself into place at da end of da line of other carts in da corral.
