A technique used in any of the Super Smash Brothers games to keep people from getting back onto the stage after being knocked off.
Hanging off the eldge to keep your opponent from jumping back on is a commonly used edge guarding technique.

Get the Edge Guardingmug. A redundant and pretentious way of simply doing the right thing while feeling the need to have it justified and announced by being part of a group/clique. Often marked by the 'sXe' tattoo, sometimes just the 'X' mark.

Get the Straight Edgemug. When you ascend the musical scale playing every correct tone only to fuck up the last note. This removes all pleasure from the situation and completely drains the room. The note is never resolved thus satisfaction is never gained.
Last night my homies and I were playing “Stack Tower Up 3D Builder Simulator Don’t Crash” on the switch and experienced the most heinous musical edging. Every time we’d reach the seventh note of the scale we could never reach the eighth. Serious musical blue balls.
