When a guy's best friend (typically a man) is still so close to the guy while he has had a girlfriend for a while that he has to be just as tentative to his friend. Often this friend ends up making the girlfriend the 3rd wheel when we go out

A privilege a girl or woman attains by committing to a formal relationship with another person. Similiarly, there are boyfriend privileges.
Example 1:
Anna: Can you drive me to the airport this Tuseday? I have a meeting in New York.
Joe: Sorry, my project is due Wednesday. I know we're having sex but putting you ahead of that is a girlfriend privilege.
Example 2:
Joe: Pardon my pushingness, but would you like to engage in a sexual act in the very perimiters of this sanitary facility?
Anna: Sorry, that's a boyfriend privilege
