Many people think of emo as a type of person that self harms, wears skinny jeans, wears black everything & listens to rock. But, that is not at all what it means. "Emo" isn't even a way to describe a person. Unless you're using it as a shortcut to emotional. Emo is a type of music. It's own genre. People that stereo type people and call them emo have no idea what the true definition of it is. But, this is it. It can only be used as a music term.

Get the emo mug.1) Behavior of an emo - Emo's usually behave as if they were depressed, but they are truly not. They tell dark jokes just to go with their outfit, and how they talk. They are very socially awkward, and will avoid you if you are a normal person. If you do try to communicate they will act shy, because nobody has given them attention like you have in years, and they finally get a single shred of evidence that they are living an embarrassing facade. They will instantly have a huge crush on you once you do communicate with them...
2) Clothing - Usually strange items you've never seen before, and when you try to study them you almost gag at why they are wearing them. They wear things like, mini hand cuffs on their bracelets that also happen to be black leather or a silver metal. They also add to their apparel a half shaven head with their hair swept to the side.
3) Hobbies - Usually drawing, or something that is kind of depressing like singing quiet songs or watching anime cartoons. Sometimes they are pretty good artists, and sometimes the stuff the draw will require 8 gallons of bleach for your eyeballs.
I personally dont see why someone would do something like, becoming an emo just for attention. Its sick. Enjoy life because you're gonna be 83 years old realizing that you did nothing but act sad your whole life just because you wanted someone to notice you. fuck off m8

I know this because i'm emo myself, as i've used first person pronouns. Second, don't associate us with skaters, goths, and scenes. My girlfriend is a scene and I know the difference. Anyways, we like darker colors. Black, red, purple, whatever. You may think our style of music is crazy, but it really isn't. We're not loners. Emos have friends too. We're not forever alone. We get dates too. So quit hating on us. Okay? Okay. We don't cut for sympathy. We cut for a reason. Same as why we're even emo.
