Truth Upholding

Writing down the exact words each individual says (or only the keywords) and/or electronically recording the words to deter speakers in a discussion, argument, conversation, or negotiation from making false statements, saying they said something other than what they said or saying they did not say something they said.
Because human beings tend to make false statements it is extremely helpful to practice Truth Upholding.

stretching the truth

Refers to the enormous sideways "expanding" of the "honesty line" (i.e., the "straight 'n' narrow" ink-trace that is drawn when the subject is not lying) that occurs whenever Hap Shaughnessy takes a polygraph test while reciting one of his grandiose tales of phenomenal past accomplishments/escapades.
When his fellow villagers disgustedly waved off his amazing tales of howling adventures and intrigue during his trip as an ambassador, Will Rogers indignantly snorted that he hoped that a building would fall in on him if he'd "padded the facts" at all about his recent political adventures, and a huge brick chimney immediately did collapse and shower him with bricks and powdery mortar-dust (he wasn't hurt -- no worries). Kind of a crude and "extreme" polygraph-device, but it did indeed show that Will had evidently been stretching the truth somewhat.

Freakonomics Truth

Statistical facts or other scholarly information that makes people uncomfortable when they read it or hear it. Freakonomics Truth often causes great consternation and denial in the listener or reader who is so shocked by what they have just discovered, that they try to avoid learning about similar information in the future.
Mass abortion among unmarried, low income women after the Roe v. Wade decision in 1973 led to a significant reduction in violent crime in the United States in the 1990s and 2000s, because many of the children who would have become violent criminals were never born. Many devoutly religious people don't like to hear 'Freakonomics Truth' because it flies in the face of everything they have been brought up to believe. 'Freakonomics Truth' reminds us of how dark and ugly life often is.
