Someone that a cocky person thinks is there to back down and get walked on because their head and heart hardened while their ass is still soft.

The cocky guy/girl thought that he/she was tougher than the guy he/she thought was a welcome mat, and thought that the welcome mat would be outmachoed or outtoughed at everything in life.
