They also tend to ride fixed-gear bicycles and hang in urban coffee shops and almost always vote as liberally as possible.

A synonym for your refrigerator/other compartments for your food. Here the word 'Netflix' is used as a 'collection' of something, based on the similarities between when you're just browsing your Netflix without necessarily picking anything (because you were bored) versus when you're browsing your fridge as you're looking for something to eat or just for the sake of browsing at it (maybe to cool off).
