Boogity Bird

A carnivorous winged creature that will attack humans at the sound of the word "rice." It has acute hearing from up to 3 miles away. When targeted, a human will hear numerous bird calls ("boogity") before being attacked violently. After the initial attack, the victim usually experiences leg spasms and seizures. Most recorded cases of Boogity Bird attacks have been fatal.

They didn't know it, but the Boogity Bird was lurking. They made a mistake, slipped up and said the one word he hates, and a quiet, beautiful day in the woods quickly turned into a bloody murder massacre.

An onomatopoetic expression of running or other hurried activity, characteristic of traditional African and African American narration. Occurs in Ralph Waldo Ellison's "Invisible Man;" metrically identical with "imbili imbili," the formula used for the same purposes by African griots -- for example, Fa-Digi Sisoko's Son-Jara. Alternatively, "boogety boogety," "boogedy boogedy."
