Terms have been misleading on this band so let's set the record straight; Avenged Sevenfold is NOT for a fact a metal band or nor do they claim to be a metalcore or hardcore band. They have stated before that they do not appreciate the mislabeling and that they merely write whatever style their heart's desire. Many supposed fans have given this amazing band a bad name and image by claiming that they are trying to be metal or that they think they are. It is unfortunate that many fans open their mouths trying to defend this rock band before knowing what they are talking about. It is important to look into the bands musical roots and their intentions before saying ANYTHING, whatsoever!

People usually tend to join this cult after going to an A7X concert, and their friends are left with no means of helping them. You can try to show them that there is other music besides A7X, but it will be in vaine. the best thing is, is to move on. It's similar to if they became a zombie, there is just no hope for them. It is their belief that A7X will come down for them in the next 10 years or so in a spaceship, so they can live in a place where good music doesn't exist.

The band name is from Chapter Four of Genesis (Hence the song "chapter four") in which Cain kills his brother Abel, because Cain feels God is not as interested in his burnt offerings. When God finds out what has happened, he sends Cain to live away for the rest of his life. God says if any man is to hurt Cain, he shall be avenged sevenfold.
This is the story where the kickass band got their name from.
