Also spelt yé. A Nigerian colloquialism or exclamation used to express surprise (usually in a negative or very unexpected context) or just to lament a bad or unexpected situation. Popular Burna Boy song of the same name is a good example of usage

Ye

A term used when one either doesn't feel like talking, is tired, does feel like talking, isn't tired, is trying to say yes, is too lazy to say no but means no but says yes anyways, at night, during the day, while sleeping, while awake, on a date, on a family outing, going on a walk in the park, going on a walk in the street, going on a walk in the house, going on walk in a farmers market, eating breakfast, eating lunch, eating dinner, during class, while jogging, playing basketball, eating ice cream, doing jumping jacks, doing Krav maga, and/ or cutting your toenails.
