the rackets

A somewhat antiquated term for the general financial services industry, used primarily by older people in the “biz” as it is also called, but most specifically this term refers to the career of being a floor trader in the NYSE back in the 80s when trading was done without computers, and instead done by live calls and shouting. The “racket” would be essentially the commotion and chaos of that long-gone environment.

“It’s tough to make it in the rackets, but I didn’t do too bad for myself.”

refers to high levels of success concerning recent situations and events; most often has a sexual connotation.

similar to phrases:

"GETTIN' IT" "GET IT" and/or "GETTIN' IT IN,"

though geared more toward use by females, as the term 'Clodis' resembles the word 'clitoris' when spoken aloud.

Hey, girl, did you ever end up calling Bob last night?

Yeah! It was great- Got him over and naked in 20 and out the door with minimal conversation.

A guy frequently spotted playing with children's no-no parts. After a good touch, he proceeds to spank the child with the tennis racket. How disturbing! He finds this entertaining. After this, he buys a corn dog.
