Down Syndrome 

Technichally, Down Syndrome is a mental disability possesed from birth, where the 21st chromosome pair in each cell has an extra. This makes a total of 47 chromosomes per cell instead of the standard 46. This "little something extra" makes them learn and look a bit differently than most people.

People with Downs Syndrome can lead very normal lives, it just takes them more time and effort to learn. They are usually very honest and careing, and never judgemental. They make wonderful friends, because they usually have a refreshingly clear view of what does and does not matter in life.

Raised in the right environment (ie. a happy and nurturing family) kids with Down Syndrome are an asset to society. The biggest challange they face is the rude and downright hateful disrespect shown to them by ignorant people. People with Down Syndrom deserve respect just as much as anyone else.

Isaac was born with Down Syndrome, but his family is happy because they realize that with love and patience, there is nothing that Isaac can't do.

Some of the athletes in the special olympics have Down Syndrome.

Tumblr Down Syndrome occurs when "edgy" teenage attention whores spend all their spare time on Tumblr.

Symptoms include:

Down Syndrome "Trisomy 21" 

I'm really surprised at the illiteracy of our society. I think that many people have a learning disability, especially when you ask them what they think Down Syndrome is. It's actually called Trisomy 21. People with this CONDITION (not disease) have an extra chromosome. The 21st chromosome tripled at conception. Most down syndrome people have medical problems such as, heart defects, liver problems and kidney problems. Their weight problems come from their thyroid being too high or too low. These guys can learn, just a little slower than you and I. This is not a disease, it is a condition. They also have features that aren't like ours, which makes them unique. Their not perfect, but neither are we. When you find someone who is, then I think you'd better call the American Medical Association. What makes them much different than some of you that have tried to define this condition is that they are better than you because they have no concept of judgement. You will never hear them judge someone elses way of life. I've read many of the definitions on this site and I can only say that I'm really dissapointed to know that their are that many cruel people out there. YOU rude people are the reason that down syndrome people are rude. They have to protect themselves from people like you. What "DISEASE" do you have that makes you the way you are? These kids are blessed children of God. They don't know what evil is. In closing, the next time you want to create your own definition of something, use your brain and look it up in a dictionary first. As for those of you who bashed this condition, you just made yourself look like a real dumb-ass.

I am a mother of a beautiful little girl who has down syndrome. I can only say to you who down this conditon that you are the ones with a very selfish disease called "JUDGEMENT"

A condition which makes your facial features look different and you have learning difficulties. It can also stunt your growth.

down syndrome 

a chromosomal (big word for smart people) disorder which effects someone for they're whole life. They have swollen looking eyes and difficulty with learning. they can also be insanely strong, i know a little girl with down syndrome, she is 9 and she can push an 80kg man to the ground. no problems. good thing is, they are very very nice people and generally more fun and outgoing than most of the nerds who will read this XD.

in short, if you call someone who did something stupid 'a downy' or 'down syndrome' you obviously don't know anyone who has it or have ever properly met someone who has it.
