Weebs are simply people who watch anime (Japanese shows) and do not have an obsession with Japan. It’s typically used in a derogatory way but weebs can also sometimes refer to themselves as such.
Most weebs are normal people who can tell fiction from reality, though there is a minority of weeaboos who fall under the stereotype (i.e. having bodypillows, trying to date fictional characters, etc.) this minority should not be lumped in with regular weebs and should instead be referred to as a “weeaboo”
