Also known as the Daytona 500, NASCAR’s biggest day! Kind of cool to see, even if you're not a fan. Many go for the wrecks that you can experience without actually being in them. Food, beer and Merch are also a draw. People watching is as much fun as the race its self.

Get the Left Turn Olympicsmug. The name says everything you need to know about them, they are games. Anybody that tries to tell you the athletes aren't there to play because they are the most skilled athletes in the world at their event doesn't know what they are talking about. No matter how competitive a game can get, no matter what is on the line, and no matter what record is broken, it is always going to be just a game, and nothing more. Good Will Hunting explained it, some people can just play at an instrument, Will could just play at equations, and athletes can just play at their sport. Of course it will require time, effort, training, and practice to play well, the same kind of dedication peole put toward their jobs, but it really is still just playing at the end of the day. Most people in the world don't clock in for a work day at a gym because it's not a work place, it's somewhere people go to practice or train at their talent, not their work.
Talent and work are not the same thing, which is why most people go to work, then they play on their time off if they do at all (sports, other things if they have a talent at anything). The Olympic Games are not leisure in the sense that most people have of leisure, they are not the same thing as vacation, they require more time, energy, effort, and dedication than vacation or leisure, but they are still games, and as long as they are games, the athletes in them are playing. Any time somebody starts calling anything called games or sports something else, or says that athletes or players are not playing, they are doing something else, is missing the point and calling things something other than what they are.

It's interesting how the judges seem to focus more on the mistakes an athlete makes even if the athlete has done a routine like nobody else, something that is theirs, something that is them. That's one of the worst things about the Olympics, there is really no such thing as better or worse routine, and yet they have an entire international event dedicated to grading which routine was better or worse, and that's what athletes are taught, they have to get a certain score. It's like grading what food is better or worse, some people like pizza and hate Chinese food and some people like Chinese food and hate pizza, the whole thing gets silly.
Olympic judges seem like the worst kind of people, instead of the Olympic games being the games that they are, people get the impression that all this stuff is the most serious thing in the world if they listen too closely to the judges.

Get the Olympicingmug. It's one thing for people that don't know the athletes to not go to the Olympics, but it really is a little bit fucked up to not allow the families of athletes in the buildings, which seems a lot like not letting the family of someone with the coronavirus in the hospital to visit. That doesn't seem like the way to treat people, and why should anybody that does treat people that way be trusted?
People want to be there for their family members to cheer them on even during hard times, and times that aren't fairweather days. The Olympics is no different than any other sports event in that sense, even if the scale is thought to be grander.
