The Meebs

The Meebs are a group of critters that are exclusive to the Ethereal Workshop. Each player starts off with 10 'neutral' Meebs, which can then be attuned to one of five Ethereal elements using the Attunement Structure by selecting the Ethereal element's respective Mirror Island.

Thermodynamical Metabolism

Essentially the same as Metabolical Thermodynamics, but from the opposite perspective: using living metabolism as the prime example to study and test non-equilibrium thermodynamic theories. It's the physics department's approach, where the cell is the most fascinating heat engine in the universe—a self-repairing, replicating machine that temporarily and locally battles entropy. Life becomes the ultimate case study for how complex order can emerge from energy flow.

Example: "The physics colloquium on 'Thermodynamical Metabolism' described a human as a 'walking dissipative structure.' We exist to turn ordered chemical energy into heat and waste, accelerating universal entropy in a beautifully complex way. It was the most profound and depressing description of lunch ever."

Cognitive Metabiases

Biases about biases themselves. These are systematic errors in how we perceive, judge, and attempt to correct for cognitive biases in ourselves and others. A key example is the Bias Blind Spot—the meta-bias of believing you are less biased than other people. Cognitive metabiases are why "knowing about biases" doesn't cure them; it often just gives you more sophisticated tools for self-deception.

Example: A CEO reads about groupthink and then vigilantly points it out in every team meeting, seeing dissent as healthy. However, they are blind to their own Cognitive Metabiases: their overconfidence bias in their ability to detect bias, and their reactance to any criticism, which they now dismiss as just "the team avoiding groupthink."
