laver bread

Pronounced "Larver", laver is an edible seaweed commonly found on the south west coast of Wales (around Swansea). Laver has to be prepared at great length by washing many times, and boiled for up to 5 hours and drained to form a gelatinous puree. It is mixed with fine oatmeal, formed into small cakes and fried in fat. If you are after a traditional authentic flavour serve it with some vegan bacon.

Of course, in olden times, and even now in the countryside, there was a hot cooking "range" constantly available, so extended cooking times for things like laver were no problem. Nowadays it is less convenient (but you could try using a pressure cooker or microwave)

I have no idea why it is called "bread"!

Noun. A leaver is someone who joins a game (like starcraft, warcraft) and just leaves. There are also called homos, faggots, fuckers, ballsuckers, pussy pinchers, and a variety of other words. These leavers are often banlisted if they leave during a game in warcraft. If on a banlist there reputation will decrease and will be boot from many games. They disturb the team balance in many games.

(FINANCE) when somebody buys a corporation using borrowed money ("leverage"), with the expectation that the new owner will able to pay for it from the corporation's own profits.

Kohlberg Kravis and Roberts (KKR) developed the LBO back when Jerome Kohlberg, Jr. and Henry Kravis were still partners at Bear Stearns (1960's). The technique was refined by Michael Milken's methods of underwriting and trading junk bonds. At the same time, corporate raiders and takeover artists like T. Boone Pickens perfected greenmail as a way to make money from failed hostile takeovers.

In constant US dollars, the largest leveraged buyout deal in history was the KKR takeover of RJR Nabisbo for $31.1 billion (1989). In 2006, several deals of even larger size were planned or attempted, but adjusted for inflation, they were not as large.
