Combination of skunked and outsmarted.
Someone who pulls out all stops to make another person so stigmatized that they lose their job, marriage, etc. This might be done out of jealousy or revenge. But the person has stooped so low and what they've done is so stinky that they fail to realize others can plainly see they're lying and cheating. So the stink they try to put on someone else comes back on them. Everyone knows what they've done and noone will go near them.

She really out skunked herself when she tried to get her boyfriend to divorce his wife. After all, he's a married man with three kids between him and his wife. And she's trying to convince her boyfriend his wife is cheating on him?!? Really now, anyone can see it's her not the wife doing the cheating.
