They are commonly seen in the ELO-based "Ranked" modes found in video-games like Mordhau and CS;GO. Similar to "Smurfs", it is likely that they do this to either troll for fun, or simply don't want to put effort into fighting people who are actually at their skill level. They severely damage the ELO of newer players to keep them from rising in the ranks, and have a tendency to be extremely toxic in chat, bragging about how bad their opponent is.
