Cam Newton was the most successful Panthers quarterback so far by one season in terms of trips to the playoffs, and in terms of having the best record, and a few other mindless statistics for the people that actually have a desire to measure somebody, but in reality he wasn't the only quarterback to ever be successful in Carolina. Some people remember a guy named Jake Delhomme who wasn't bad at what he did. Statistics don't really make one guy better than the other, people loved them both for a while, then they disappeared, and that's how it goes. Most people don't put a lot of importance on statistics or measures, any more than they do status. The shoes of Cam Newton will be the hardest to fill of the Panthers recent quarterbacks, that is certain.
Cam Newton was an excellent quarterback while in Carolina, and not everybody would make a successful quarterback. You can do things other people can't, and they can do things you can't, that is reality. Nobody has to turn into or emulate Cam Newton to do well as a quarterback, that is the point. Cam Newton is Cam Newton, Jake Delhomme was/is Jake Delhomme, and the next guy is the next guy, that's it.

Get the Newtonmug. The feudal lords (male and female) want 100 billion dollars from sports fans, or they lose cam Newton, and soon enough, their team. People talk shit about Jerry Richardson now, but Jerry Richardson didn't try to control sports fans with threats. Even when the Panthers were having their worst seasons, their stadium didn't seem like a big circus tent, ready to pack up and head for another town.

Get the Cam Newtonmug. He sometimes brought bad publicity with reporters, so people at some point were going to find out he wasn't a superhero and he wasn't perfect, he was just a guy. He hasn't had a whole lot of room to be a regular guy because of the superhero nicknames and image.
Some of what Cam Newton said and did was as questionable as what anybody else says and does. He didn't really ever claim to be perfect, somewhere he got the superhero image and it stuck.
